Growing up with my Israeli name in the United States has made me different; there was never another “Amit” in any of my classes and I never found my name stamped across items in the souvenir shops. While it certainly hasn’t been easy having to almost always correct mispronunciations, I still love my name and everything it stands for.
I’m the ultimate family baby. My brother is 13 years older than me and my sister is 10 years older than me. For all intents and purposes, I was raised by 4 adults.
I was only 8 years old when I became a “lonely child” as I called it. With both of my siblings grown up and out of the house, I was alone for the first time in my life. Forced to forge ahead on my own, I finally started finding myself and paved my own path.
I was the pickiest eater as a kid. Drove my mom and 2 polish grandmothers up a wall.  Pasta and butter. Mushroom pizza–cheese pizza wasn’t good enough. Sunny side up eggs but forget about the yolk. And absolutely no bananas. EVER. Now it’s ironic because I love trying new food and practically eat everything–minus bananas. While I’m not picky about food anymore, I’m picky elsewhere and it isn’t a bad thing. It means I have standards and I set mine high.
A learning disability does not mean I’m stupid nor incompetent to achieve success. I may need to work harder, but more importantly I want to work harder.
My mom always told me that the dead are the only ones that are perfect since they no longer make any mistakes. I don’t want to be perfect. Take risks and bounce back.
Women can do anything men can do. We may do it better–even with our ~feminine~ touch.
Travel is the ultimate adventure and classroom. Give me the historic walking tours. Let me spend hours in museums and art galleries. Take me on long hikes. Give me the local cuisine. Show me the beautiful views. Allow me to take thousands of photographs. Let me jump out of planes. Make me get out of my comfort zone.
Develop work-life balance.  It’s okay to take time to respond or even unplug.
Embrace idle hands. Be creative. Solve problems.
Stories are extremely powerful. They can sell literally anything. Seriously, look at the pet rock.
Exercise isn’t for my body, it’s for my mind and soul.
My people make my world. I wouldn’t be who I am without them. That also includes all the people who aren’t in my life anymore.
24 hours in a day isn’t enough nor is a human’s lifespan. Carpe diem every single day
